Women hockey team loses

Dhaka (Bangladesh) September 10: Bangladesh girls began their first ever participation in the Air Asia Women's Junior (U-21) AHF Cup 2019 qualifiers, with a 3-0 defeat against hosts Singapore on Monday.
Bangladesh team, which was only formed few months ago, managed to hold the stronger opponents in the first two quarters before conceding two in the third quarter scored by Johana Hajaratih and Sim Valerie. The latter added one more in the last quarter.
Bangladesh played a six-match friendly series against SAI Academy women's hockey team at home before travelling to Singapore where they lost all six matches. The team sets target to gain experience.
Bangladesh will face Sri Lanka in their second match on Tuesday before taking on Hong Kong, Uzbekistan and Chinese Taipei on September 12, 14 and 15 respectively. The round-robin based tournament will be concluded on September 15 after which the top two finishers will qualify for the final round scheduled to be held in India next year.
