Nissan shareholders approve governance reform

Tokyo (Japan) June 25: Shareholders approved Nissan Motor's new management plan on Tuesday.
The plan will give the automaker's French partner, Renault, more influence. Nissan also agreed to be more transparent by increasing the number of outside board members from three to seven.
The shareholders agreed to reappoint Hiroto Saikawa as president and CEO.
Renault had earlier said it might abstain from voting, saying it was underrepresented in Nissan's plan. But it changed its mind after Nissan agreed to its requests.
