Japan's industrial output rises for fifth month

Tokyo (Japan), November 30: Japan's manufacturing output is continuing to recover from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The industrial production index rose 3.8 percent month-on-month in October, marking the fifth consecutive month of gains.
Industry ministry officials say the increase reflects recovering demand as economic activity picks up pace globally.
Machinery and automobiles were the main contributors to the rise. Vehicle production returned to pre-pandemic levels.
Officials remain cautious about the outlook, however, given the resurgence of infections. They predict a 2.7 percent rise in output for November, before a 2.4 percent drop in December.
