Balkh Wins Title for Afghanistan Volleyball League

Kabul (Afghanistan) November 20: The Omul Bilad team from Balkh province won the title for the country's first volleyball league by defeating Kabul's Bala Hisar team 3-1 on Thursday.
Six teams from six zones of the country attended the competition.
The Spin Ghar and Bost volleyball teams respectively got the third and fourth positions.
"The volleyball league stands at a higher level after football and cricket. This indicates that our federation is moving towards a revival and development," said Hafiz Wali Rahimi, the head of the Sports and Physical Education Department.
"The Afghan volleyball is improving. We call on all our compatriots, the private sector, and the government to invest in the sport," said Bahauddin Jailani, head of the Afghanistan Volleyball Federation.
People from all layers of society including the women and girls witnessed the matches.
"I am very happy and congratulate my colleagues and the people of Afghanistan for this victory," said Atta Mohammad Sulaiman, the captain of Omul Bilad team.
"I am so excited to be here. I hope that peace prevails across Afghanistan in the future so that women can participate in such events," said Sara, a Kabul resident.
